TRAIL GUIDE: TBD
DESCRIPTION:
This extremely fun trail features a series of small slicklock waterfalls with plenty of challenges. You'll find cattle bones, caves, and a tombstone that shows this trail is rich in history, even though it is new to the mountain. The trail has three sections. and all three sections has been completed by a Jeep with no lockers and 35" tires. We recommend that you have at least one locker.
The first section is a sandy wash that leads to several small ledges and climbs that make the trail pretty fun as you climb your way in elevation. About half way in the first section is Skully's Pinch, an obstacle that requires drivers to stay as far left as possible because the Pinch comes from a rock that sticks out, wanting to lay claim to your rear fender panel. Out of the 40 vehicles we have taken through this trail, easy spotting has allowed 100% safe passage without body damage. There are several spots that you can increase your level of difficulty but the original trail guides vehicles around those spots.
The second section comes after you get out of the Canyon and over to Jacob's Draw. It has a series of roughly 6-8 obstacles that are pretty fun as you climb even higher in elevation. All obstacles are kept in mind for vehicles with only 1 locker, even though we have driven it many times without any lockers.
The third section takes you across the dunes to a bluff on Sand Mountain which is situated between two dunes. This bluff contains a tombstone for whom we will never know. Additionally, the bluff has a cave that has been cut into it, fun for the kids to explore. The cave goes about 25 feet horizontally into the bluff. It is a dead end and doesn't contain any other cavities.
Scenery
Nice high desert scenery, with some views of Sand Hollow Reservoir and Zion Park.
Surface
Sandy Roads for the first part, then steep slickrock waterfalls, then rocky gulches with steep waterfalls and ledges.
Trail Details
There are a couple of 7- and 8-rated optional obstacles on this trail. Body and drivetrain damage is likely for these harder obstacles. We suggest each vehicle come prepared with at least 1 locker and 35" tires although the trail can be completed with 33" tires.
